How do I switch my dish tv over to the dvd player?

Everytime I press the input button nothing happens...and i tried to push input on sat, tv, dvd, and aux settings. Why won't it work?? I just wanna watch a dvd!|||You need to connect the DVD player to another input on the TV, and use the TV remote, or satellite remote on TV mode to change that.
